Here's a map showing where there's more single men compared to single women and where more single women are compared to single men throughout the States. It doesn't take into account sexuality, race or age but it's still interesting. If you're male you don't want to live on the West Coast as it's full of single guys! It's NYC, Washington DC and the eastern seaboard where all the single women are.
Then I found this post from Scott Karp's Publishing 2 blog about about craigs list killing newspaper classifieds, the free classified site and it's real purpose and it's main traffic. Exotic services are huge on it. More than double anything else. It also show how all the different hunting sexualities differ amongst all the major US cities. Men looking for Men is more popular in LA than casual encounters. How Miami, the main 
latino city has nearly no traffic through craigs list but in NYC, women seeking men is the next biggest amongst the others which ties with the singles map above and to the left. Here's the compete.com analysis of craigs list too.
