Found this telling graph on the Lost Remote blog which focuses on US TV and it's evolving future.
We already know this in our everyday lives but it's so clear here what direction advertising is going, where the whole world is heading with the explosive growth of all forms of communication, the coming interactive nature of society. The mobile (small screen) and laptop (medium screen) will drive content to the big screen. The graph was taken from the NY Times story but this marketing week story articulates where we're heading from an advertising POV.
I found this little user generated iPod commercial which I thought I'd share with all.
Paper you touch and emits sounds. It's that simple. It's called Paper Four. Developed at the Mid Sweden University. For more links go to the Adverlab blog but the possibilities are endless.
I couldn't help myself. Posting the new iphone commercial.
Appalling. That's all I can say to this brand logo for the 2012 London Olympics and as for the brand logo film...I don't know why I've linked to it but what can say but god help us. I'm not blaming anyone in particular but when we have such world renowned directors and award winning post production skills here in London and this is what they produced?!
Here's Seb Coe's justification of it all (but read what Seth Godin got to say below too). We were going to apply to the London Olympic committee to try and tender for some of the film related work but once we saw the ODA application form and the hoops we would have had to jump through, we gave up. Maybe that's the problem? The tendering process might have put us all off? So I guess it's congratulations to the production companies that did win the tender...and even Seth Godin has noticed and that's saying something.
UPDATE - I have since learnt that the brand logo film was produced by an events company as an after thought for the brand launch and of course wasn't meant to be noticed by us all. Here's the actual brand film for you all to watch too.
