SheSays Digital Advertising Initiative

SheSays is an initiative to encourage more women to go into digital advertising. They organise free monthly talks and offer free one-to-one mentorship to people wanting to start in digital. They have only been going for four months but the group has been really successful (more than 100 Facebook members and people on the mailing list).

They are  now launching a site. To promote it they decided to dress up some of the digital Creative Directors  and shoot four web videos, one at a conference with James Cooper and three in Cannes with Nicke (Far Far), Joakim Borgstorm (WK Amsterdam), Flo Heiss(Dare), Seb Royce (glue) and Andy Sandoz (Work club). The videos are fun but with a serious message behind them. The films were directed by Annette Armstrong and She Says is the brainchild of Alessandra Lariu - a Senior Creative at Agency Republic and Laura Jordan Bambach, Head of Art at Glue.

Alessandra and Laura organise free events and the next meeting is on July 25th. The meeting is all about future trends in digital. Here's the link to myspace page.

Where is it safest to be seated on a Plane?

Continuing my love of flying, here's a useful tip when travelling, guess where it's safest to sit on a plane? The back. Popular Mechanics has a great post with all details and pics. I guess that's why it's the area of the plane where they seat families and young children. Aircrashseatillo0807

Jackson's Thriller rehearsed by Cebu Prison Inmates.

Michael Jackson's Thriller as performed by the inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Centre. This was just the rehearsal so expect to see more. Give the zombies a chance, it's worth the wait just to witness the scale of the production. UPDATE - Here they are performing the Algorithm March, all 957 inmates.

Woody Allen meets Billy Graham

Scamp wants to meet a Christian for a good argument as he's presently reading Richard Dawkin's book, The God Delusion. I thought he'd enjoy this. Here's Woody Allen meeting Billy Graham, disarming the preacher through the persuasive use of humour. Maybe there's a small lesson to learn here when persuading explaining work to clients?

One Take Tramoline Performance Art Web Video

This is great fun. A one take trampoline video performed by professional trampoline gymnasts simulating typical video editing effects to an audience (wait until the end).

Matt Dyke & Jeroen Matser - Tribal DDB - Cannes Lecture June 07

Here's the future. A great web video from Cannes Lions 07. If you're some form of creative or planner you should already know about this lecture or you should watch it immediately. Likeminded, I've been writing and posting many of the examples that Matt and Jeroen talk about and am in full agreement. They clearly articulate the future of some new forms of advertising and marketing or should I say new forms of engaging entertainment?

Hitler's Sheffield United suffer their Downfall

Very funny mash up (through the use of sub-titles) of Sheffield United's demotion from Premiership to First Division using footage from the film Downfall.

Social Media and it's effect on the future

Hugh Macleod at Gaping Void articulates the future through social media and it's effect on all our lives in this post for his friend, Shel Israel who is doing some consulting work for the large German ERP software firm, SAP.

Hugh says of social media 'I think it will continue to gravitate to where it has always gravitated towards i.e. Faster, Cheaper and Easier.' If you give the consumer the path of least resistance, satisfying, entertaining them, they will take it, use it. The iPod, coupled with itunes as a good early example. Maybe we have to combine, mesh much more online tech with offline tech and human nature, practical needs and wants from now on. Tech meshing with creative. I'm convinced we're going to see creative technologists appear throughout all walks of life, especially in marketing and entertainment. People that can creatively combine all new diverse forms of online ideas, concepts, softwares, social medias, existing forms of content like sound and vision and imaginatively fuse them to form useful, helpful, entertaining medias of the future. We all already seeing it through Facebook and online games.
