Over the last week or so there has been another flurry of interesting new social media research published, often with the now seemingly obligatory infographic to illustrate it.
The first piece that caught my eye was the UK Social Media Census 2011 commissioned by PR and corporate communications specialists Lansons Communications and carried out by Opinium Research in March to coincide with the real UK census. Key research findings include:
61% of UK adults use social media Social media use by age ranges from 87% for under 20s and 20s to 28% for over 70sOne fact that was interesting for me is that contrary to popular belief social media usage is high even amongst older generations. Almost a third of over 70s (28%) and more than a third of over 60s (39%)represent a significant target market.
The second piece was the Web in 60 Seconds which simply visualises how much happens every minute such as 600+ new YouTube videos uploaded and 320+ new Twitter accounts created.
